New Jersey Devils set to name new head coach

On scheduled 1:30 p.m. conference, the Devils will make "a major announcement" later Monday and name their new head coach.

Since a conference call is being held, one can assume that John MacLean, who is here at the Prudential Center for the beginning of rookie camp, is not the man being hired.

Jacques Lemaire is still believed to be the leading candidate, but no formal indication has been made. He did not consider wearing nfl jerseys.

Right now, the defensemen are practicing, and Scott Stevens, Jacques Laperriere and Tommy Abelin are running the drills. General manager Lou Lamoriello peeked his head in about 10 minutes ago, but then disappeared after the announcement of the conference call was handed down.
